I live in Los Angeles, CA, more precisely in Inglewood about five miles East of LAX, if you have flown here then you know where that is if you have not it is about eight miles from the west facing beaches, the summer here has been off, cool all July and most of August, it is going to be hot for about a week or more soon, Andrew you know you are in the middle of the heat that is coming, but it has been overcast and really cool this summer and I think it has slowed my plants growth some, and they are still flowering this late in the year, any clues? linkI hope the links work, my transplanted VFT's in washed media are doing very good, no transplant shock and my little red trap is growing now that it is in full sun.

great plants and the flowers are normal. that is just the style and ovary remaining, and it looks like their is that only one plant with petals, but someplants are weird and flower in the fall. But most of your plants are perfectly normal.

Andrew how long does it usually take for petals to fall off purpurea flowers on average, I know all of them are different but just on average, these lost their petals quickly after opening, maybe six to ten days before I saw petals in the pots but this is my first flowering of my plants so I am still learning.

SO after the flower opens, it takes roughly a week before the pollen is mature. Then you pollinate and do what you want to pollinate it. Next, after mabey a week at the most the petals start to die, and within a few days they die, and will fall. Then you wait about 3-5 months, until the rest of the flower dies. Then you crack open the pod, and collect the seeds frim each ovary.

So in pollination it is really easy? not like Heliamphora that is a game between getting the stigma in the right moment and collecting the pollen from the past flower at a precise moment?
